Powerlifting is a strength sport which comprises of the squat, benchpress and deadlift, with the goal being to lift as much as possible with safe and efficient technique. Being strong is useful in all aspects of life. It is also easy to chart your progress which makes it easier to stay motivated. Powerlifting is for anyone, from beginners to elite athletes. Whether you want to compete or simply test your limits, everyone can benefit from being stronger. Our Barbell 1610 Powerlifting Team consists of a group of enthusiastic individuals, with one goal: Improving their total. For us, this means following a consistent programme that helps increase our one rep max squat, benchpress and deadlift under the guidance of International Powerlifting Coach Chantelle Du Toit. The team has competed at numerous Gauteng Powerlifting Championships, SA Powerlifting Championships and IPF World Classic and Equipped Powerlifting Championships, and is home to numerous Protea Powerlifting Athletes. Barbell 1610 is affiliated to the South African Powerlifting Federation and the International Powerlifting Federation.
